Anticline, Marloes

'Anticline', Marloes, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK.

Limited Edition of 195

"This Image was taken one evening in June 2008 as sea fog rolled in. The gentle diffused light exposed the rocks and sea beautifully creating a softness rarely encountered. The arch was in part formed by a geological feature known as an 'Anticline'. This is where the earth's surface has previously been folded to form a convex arch under immense pressures at plate margins. The bands of rock are subsequently left plunging near vertical, with the oldest rocks found progressively towards the centre. Since taking this image the arch has completely collapsed, leaving a small stump at the base."
