Mynydd Carningli I, Newport

'Mynydd Carningli I', Newport, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK.

Limited Edition of 195

"Standing at 347 metres Carningli was orginally formed by a volcano some 450 million years ago. Human occupation can be traced to the Bronze Age although the most intact feature is the triangular shaped Iron Age Hill Fort where the remains of the stone Ramparts (defensive walls) and settlements are still visible today. The translation of 'Mynydd Carningli' is literally 'Angel-rock Mountain', after the celtic Saint Brynach experienced visions and conversations with Angels in the 5th century. This sacred Mountain of visions has been found to have strong magnetic anomalies, which may be the cause of minor and major altered states of mind. The Mountain also contains small traces of quarrying activity which was abandoned in 1930."
